After contacting various individuals about the road construction on West Underwood Road, it was reinforced why I no longer want to be a part of this community. I feel I have been a victim of alledged corrupt politics and unfair township practices. It appears to me that a retired conservation officer with residence on on this road has allegedly been favored or received special attention beyond the others who live on this road that has been in need of a complete rebuild. We all patiently waited for this road repair after loosing the front end of of several vehicles. They have seem to put most of the funding to RESTORE and UPGRADE the ditch line and culverts that would maintain and PRESERVE the natural conditions around the residence of a retired DNR conservation officer. They replaced the rotted out culvert going under the road, and his driveway was the only one to get a new 20+ foot culvert and aprons. Lets not leave out these two culverts were installed correctly.
So with that said, he was taken care of. Further down the road reside seemly less important individuals. The same water run off conditions apply to my property as well as the neighbor to the west of me. The same type of drainage is needed to MAINTAIN and RESTORE wetland, (NOT create wet land), with a culvert running under the road like the one replaced on this project East of me. They had no intentions of replacing the rotted out half colapsed culvert until I brought it to their attention. I don't even think the Engineer of this project knew there was a culvert. So, I leave town for a day and come back to a culvert that has been put in about 6-8 higher then the previous culvert. Speaking with a sub contractor employee overseeing the project, he claims he set the culvert at the same height as the old one. Anybody can say that after the fact. Back it with pictures and audio. He could tell me how water going to run uphill. They have now turned my front yard into a pond come spring with no where for the water to go. They have created a situation that will change the natural runoff holding back water in my yard. Not only that, from a ENGINEERING stand point it will make a unstable road bed even more unstable. Good thinking guys. A culvert set too shallow on unstable ground equals ROAD BUMP. And hows that backed up water going to help the road bed? I guess I need to go to Engineering school to learn how water runs up hill 8 inches to get into a culvert. Magic! It looks as if those who won't listen must be left alone until they dig themselves a bigger hole. Don't make things right people, that's your call. This issue needs to be resolved. I have used a transit and they usually are more accurate then a mans word. Let the spring waters melt and the chips fall. Thanks for all your help making me a mosquito farm. Water runs over/across my driveway, where's my culvert and aprons? how about the neighbors drive culvert as well? It's rather sad when a person has to waste his or her energy like this. Trying to make something right all because of some peoples lack of concerns of others property. Oh lets not forget the root of all evil, Money and Politics. Who's in charge of this job? Nobody wants to take responsibility for this mess. Gotta go now, I'm going to build an ark.
