The trail is closed between Virginia and Mtn. Iron. don't ride your bike in Virginia the only view between Mtn. Iron and Buhl is US 169
Beautiful
However, the Mesabi Bike trail is newer pavement, generously wide and easy to access. Not to mention the several geocaches along the way. We will be coming back to conquer the hills eventually.
Our family didn't make it far on the trail. One big hill at the start and another hill looming right after kept us from continuing. Instead we went around the path circling nearby Ice Lake, which is much easier.
Great bike path through some scenic country.
