Left a review two years ago. I said, "people never answer the phone" I'm here now saying, these. People. NEVER. Answer. The. Phone.

To the review that said the classes are a joke... You do realize that some of these classes are designed to be courses from which you start; so, if you have had higher level classes in high school, WHY ARE YOU TAKING LOWER LEVEL CLASSES IN COLLEGE? You probably didn't do so hot on your placement exam.

This school is a damn joke. Don't waste your time or money here.

Housing:

After attending both umd and unfortunately this place I can safely say don't come here.

The campus grounds are absolutely beautiful. Some of the facilities are a bit outdated, and there are parts of campus that are not well maintained, but that's with every public institution. Taking a stroll on the paths behind the campus is breathtaking. Even with being rural and on the outskirts of Grand Rapids, campus is still close enough you can take advantage of the amenities that town offers.

90% of classes are honestly a scam. You want to take calculus 2? Ok, get ready to learn nothing about calculus 2. I mean we seriously integrated for like a week... want to take physics 2? Cool! So did I, be prepared to dig up your old 9th grade pltw material. Because in this class you play with resistors like a high school student, instead of learning the material you will desperately need when you move on.

Attended as an "engineering" student.

If they never answer the phone, do you bother to leave a message? STOP IN TO THE STUDENT SERVICES OFFICE AND TALK TO SOMEONE. They can't help you if you can't help yourself.

Even more annoying is the housing staff. Think your gonna have freedom once you get to college? No way, these guys watch you like hawks, and they will barge into your room if they even have the suspicion that you are doing something your not supposed to.

Wow! You really can't trust the reviews you see on Google. I'm currently in my sophomore year at Itasca and I'm sad to have to transfer. I have loved my experience and the relationships I have built at ICC.

The professors are always kind and genuinely want to see you succeed. The classes are small enough that you get those one on one relationships that make going to class more personal. You can walk down the halls and the professors know you by name. You feel like they actually care about you, and your education.

The internet is terrible. When it's not slow as a snail it's forcing you to log back in in order to even get internet. This would happen about three times a day. Very annoying.

I first attended Itasca Community College as a PSEO student back in 2009, and then returned in 2015-2017 for the engineering program. My experience here has been all around excellent and I would highly recommend Itasca to anyone and everyone.

Classes:

Just don't go here. Spend the extra money and go straight to a university. You'll have more fun, and more importantly you'll learn much much more.

Now, that's not saying they don't touch on the topics they need to. Like I said we did integrate for a week lmao. However, they won't actually teach you how to integrate or how to differentiate. No no no, they just show you how to plug it into a calculator. Ask any Itasca engineering student what a derivative is and they won't be able to answer, but hey they can get an answer on their calculator with 40% accuracy.
